DOWNLOAD MUSIC
1. Download your part
When we did the online rehearsal, there were two sets of parts in the PDF which used two different sets of rehearsal marks.

We also did some repeats to match a recording which we won't do for the recording.
To be SURE, download the music again using the link below and print a new part (sorry). Please also check which part you're playing before dedicating too many hours to learning the wrong one!
2. Mark it up - rehearsal marks and repeats
Mark in the following to your part:

1 bar before fig. 19 – put repeats around this one bar, we will play it twice

Fig. 83 – Anyone who plays the first 8 bars, breath in phrases of 4 + 4

Fig. 132 – This is double speed, quaver = crotchet at this point (will help you with the tempo change)

Fig 186. Trombones are Kings, Queens and the whole royal family here, but circle the breath marks so you sustain the phrases please! Bells up for the video too!

4th bar of fig. 218 – make the sfp so you don't miss it!
Recording audio
1. You will need

A device to record audio on

A device to watch the accompaniment video whilst you play
with headphones connected to hear the audio

Your music
(marked with everything listed above)

Your instrument, warmed up and ready to play
(you'll be given a tuning note before recording)

Practise with the video below before making a recording.
2. Setting up to record your audio

Find a quiet place in the house. Tell your family what you're doing to!

Set your microphone/device far enough away that the sound isn't distorted, but not too far away that you're too quiet. Try this out.

Have your headphones at a volume where you hear the accompanying audio, but not too loud as to be picked up by the microphone
3. Recording in three sections

So you don't have to get one completely perfect take of the whole thing, record the audio in three sections (even if you feel capable of recording it in one go):

1. Beginning to Fig. 83
for those who play at 83, you don't have to play the first note

2. Fig 83 to bar 167
everyone play the quaver in the bar 167, the up forte upbeat that follows will be in the next take

3. Upbeat to 168 to the end
play it all!

Each section will begin with a tuning note and have a two-bar click count in and Gareth will both conduct and direct out loud with the odd comment over the top. This will helpful for you over the tempo changes.

At the end of a section, give yourself a few seconds of silence before going to turn the recording off.
Recording VIDEO
1. You will need

A device to record video on

A device to watch the accompaniment video whilst you play
with headphones connected to hear the audio

Your music
(so you play in the right places, unless you can memorise it!)

Your instrument
2. Setting up

This is much easier!

Get dressed in festive items, find a nice backdrop inside or out.

Position the camera so we can see what you want us to see (keep it clean), or enlist the help of a camera-person to follow you around

Play along to the video, but don't worry about making a mistake, we'll be using the audio from the other recording instead! Don't mime, or it will look fake.

This will be done in one continuous take.

Please feel free to add "personality"...
3. Recording in one take

The video you used to record your audio has been prepared without the breaks in for you to play along for this recording. You can watch this below.

There is a FOUR bar count in this time

On the THIRD bar you need to CLAP
(this is so we can align all the videos perfectly with the same action at the same time)
